Catching Up

It's been a few weeks since I posted anything, so I'll try to play catch up.

Our household  came down with the creeping crud. Not flu. Not strep. (As per the doctor.) But "upper respiratory flu-like symptoms". My kiddo just had the sniffles. My husband was next, with body aches, fever, chills, coughing, stuffiness and when he spent almost two whole days sleeping, I got worried and managed to get him to go to the doctor. That was the first week in April, and the first day my throat felt like I had swallowed a glass of hot sand.

Hubs got a z-pac "just in case" due to his compromised immune system, but like a dummy I toughed it out. And I'm just now starting to feel human again. I don't get sick very often, and when I do get sick, it's usually just the sniffles and some congestion for a few days. This one was brutal. And once the fever, aches and chills subsided, the congestion would move from head to chest and back, and just didn't want to leave.

I was out of work for a week, and skipped the gym for 9 days. So now I'm trying to play catch up there as well. The good news on that front is I managed to get 5 days at the gym in this week, and two of those with my trainer. I have sore muscles in places I didn't know I had muscles! But it's a good feeling!

Of course, now that hubs and I both are feeling better, the kidlet is at drill this weekend. Which means she's going to bring home the germs of 50-60 other soldiers to share, and we'll likely start the process all over again. Weeeeee! :)

On the firearms front.....
CHL paperwork has been submitted - and now I'm on a holster hunt.
I purchased an Old Faithful kit and put it together, but as is, it's not working so well for me. I love the quality and the retention on my gun, but it takes up a huge amount of real estate on my waist band (have I mentioned that I'm teeny tiny at barely 5'2" and 115lbs on a good day?) and seems to create a really noticeable bulge when wearing it at 4-5 o'clock.

I'm going to try moving the clips up to make it sit further down inside my pants, and see if that helps with the bulge*.
If I'm not happy with that, then I'll trim down the leather so it takes up less room on the waist band. And if THAT doesn't help, then I'll look for something else.

You can see where the clips hit on my waist band. That's a LOT of real estate!
Pardon the mess on the floor! My (teenage) daughter helped with the pictures, and she needs to clean her room!!
*I moved the clips, and it helped a little with the gap in the back of my waist band, but not enough for my liking. The real estate on this puppy is gigantic on me. It literally takes up about 1/3 of my total waist band space. So now I need to decide if I'm going to try trimming the leather down and move the clips in, or if I'm going to try to return it.

I've had my eye on the Betty holster by the makers of the Flashbang, so I think that's going to be my next holster purchase. The Well Armed Woman has a video showing various ways it can be worn, and I think it will work for me. I've been thinking about trying appendix or cross draw anyway.

I'll be back with updates, I'm sure. :)

Processing

I finally took my CHL class last week, and my brain is busy processing what I have learned.
One thing that I already knew, but that was reconfirmed, is that I love the great state of Texas. <3
We have laws that make sense!

Now I have to finish working my way through the laws and statutes and process those while I wait for my paperwork to process.

I also have a few other training classes I'm looking at, and hope to get something scheduled soon.
